997) "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" (NBC)
NBC made the terrible decision to move Jay Leno, who hosted "The Tonight Show" before O'Brien, to the 10PM hour with a very
similar show. NBC then moved Conan O'Brien to the "Tonight Show" where he did his version of the show. Leno, tanked at
10PM since even good ratings from the 11:35PM slot are considered a flop at 10PM, and local NBC affiliates screamed since
their lead-in to the local 11PM news was gone. That lack of a lead-in probably hurt Conan's numbers as well, and David
Letterman on CBS started besting "The Tonight Show". NBC cancelled Conan's "Tonight Show" and decided to move Jay Leno back to that slot to go back
to beating Letterman, and Conan will likely start up a new show elsewhere. Cancelled after 7 months in January 2010.
