928) "Last Comic Standing" is back on:

That was unexpected. Maybe Craig Robinson will be able to pull it off...

I guess the current abc hour long TV comedy/dramedy series "Ugly Bety" has finally got the slip after
four seasons on the air will it return in May for the series finale?
Actually the series finale is supposed to be on April 14th...

Yes, "Lincoln Heights" was cancelled after it's 4th season.

Rich:
"Canceled in it's first season..."
"It's" means "It is," so there should be no apostrophe when it is used
like this.
Thanks - I didn't realize that I was doing that. I'll correct it soon.

You have a great and very useful site. I appreciate all the info and access TVHell frequently. I'm curious, though. How in

Thanks for being.
Thanks back to you! This site doesn't make any money - It gets a ton of hits, but so far I haven't been able to work
any advertisers into the site. Someday...

The show listed as #1001 on your canceled list is correctly named "The Tudors" not the "The Tutors" as you have it listed.
I had it right in the description, but spelled the title wrong...and I watch that show too. Thanks for letting me know.

ABC cancels Ugly Betty. Current, last season now only 20 eps.
It seems as if the brass at ABC wanted this show to be over with. Moving it to Fridays was a sure thing for that.

Loox as if this is "Ugly Betty's" last season. But hey, it had a good run. Not many shows last 4
years any more. And it loox as if it'll eventually be syndicated and DVD'd.
Yup, 4 seasons just makes it to the sydication limit - so look for re-runs probably on ABC Family...

Good news for "Trauma" fans! It now appears the show will return March 8 with 10 new eps!
So ya might hafta remove #976 from Page 4 of the denizens of TV Hell.
I'm not too surprised. Leno pulled in better numbers in that time slot and that's what it's all about. I do agree that Conan
did have a weaker lead-in than Jay had, and that was probably a major factor. NBC has their work cut out for them. They have
to rebuild pretty much everything in prime time to please the affiliates for their lowered ad revenue and poor news lead-in, and they have
to hope that Leno will go back to topping Letterman, let alone Conan on another network.
![]()
NBC has cancelled "The Tonight Show With Conan O' Brien" in a not-too-surprising move after Leno's 10 PM show tanked, with
Letterman regularly outdrawing O'Brien. NBC wants to put Horse Head back on late, where he regularly topped Letterman in
viewers

4 seasons is a pretty good run for a pre-teen and teen focused show...and it will still run until 2011.

I seen this somewhere that Fox canceled the show "Brothers".Can you
verify this for me? I remember watching the first episode and was

Yes - "Brothers" was cancelled by last week.

Last April, Dawn Ostroff, the disastrous director pf programming of the CW, announced that it would be airing "Blonde
Charity Mafia", a show about three Washington DC socialites who pretty much dominate DC's social charity events, along
with a reality show, "Hitched Or Ditched". However, the reality show was horrible; it never shoulda aired, and the net
held up running BCM until the summer season was over. Now it appears that the CW has decided not to air BCM at all.
Somehow, I don't think too many folx give a hoot.
I can't imagine that it was any good. Most people in DC have all of the personality of a box of rocks - it's where nerds
move, make a name for themselves or grow up, and move out of. I've been stuck in that area for some time. A show about
these people who are devoid of any character and personality couldn't possibly be entertaining.
![]()
I guess the current CBS medical show "Three Rivers" got the axe from CBS after only a couple of months on the air and that means

Will that current ABC TV reality show "Find My Family" which is seen on
Monday nights return here soon in midseason? Since they did not give the

It's in "wait and see' mode - but probably will return as a replacement show.

CBS has announced that they're ending the soap "As The World Turns" in Fall of 2010. Seems as if CBS

I see that you don't like shows that take place in New York just like me. Why do you think that they keep trying to force New York down our neck?
Thats a tough one. It's not that I dislike all shows that take place in NYC, it's more that I think that it shows a lack of creativity
and understanding of the audience on the part of the show creators and network executives. As soon as I see that something takes
place in NYC, I know that not a lot of thought went into it.

Perhaps the latest Investigation Discovery crime reality show called
"Scene Of The Crime" is on hiatus to make room of the return of "Deadly Women" right? and "Saving Grace" on TNT after four seasons it had gotten
the ax as well.
Yup, Saving Grace is wrapped, but "new" episodes will continue to air this season. I think that they could fit "Deadly Women" on ID without bumping a first
run show, so it's probably some re-tooling that is needed or just a cancellation for "Scene of the Crime" in it's future.
![]()

I was curious about Nip/Tuck. You have it listed as canceled but they are running commercials for a new season starting in

Nip/Tuck finished filming its 100th and final episode on June 12, 2009. Show creator creator Ryan Murphy is no longer on board and
F/X is airing the last season (19 episodes) beginning Wednesday October 14th with a short run, and again in the Spring with

What happened to that recent WE TV's original reality all female bridal

NBC cancelled it, but it may still go on internationally since it's a Canadian show.
![]()

![]()
Hmmmm...Loox as if "In The Motherhood" has earned the distinction of being cancelled TWICE. Pretty bad when a cancelled
show being burned off in summer airings even has its lame-duck airings cancelled!
My prediction is that the next-to-go to Page 4 will be "Better Off Ted". (No rocket science required for THAT bit of
prognostication!)
"Ted" is that same type of humor that shows like "Arrested Development" had, which usually doesn't equal big ratings.

I suppose A&E's current show "The First 48" have gone on hiatus and is

In their infinite wisdom, they're reviving "I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Outta Here!" Just leaving the "A" outta the title isn't gonna make garbage into
something papatable.
And just think, somebody at NBC is making an aweful lot of money to make decisions like that...!

Appears Fox has axed "Talkshow With Spike Feresten" for the usual reason-lacka viewership. This show's little sketches were silly enuff to be quite
funny.
Yes - bad ratings. Fox did run it for three seasons, so it actually was given a chance to work for once.

Still can’t believe they, freaking NBC, cancelled Life!!! If it wasn’t for L&O and L&O: SVU, I would
not be watching this network anymore! And NBC wonders why they are at the bottom of the ratings pile?!?! Definitely not
‘Must See TV’ anymore!
OK, with that now off my chest!…Here is a neat little show scorecard to keep up with your favorites and their status.
It's hard to figure out what the brass at NBC are thinking, but they do need to clear some room on the schedule for five
nights of the new Jay Leno show at 10PM. That's another head shaker...

The end of "Life" as we know it:
Thanks for the link - They should have promoted this one a bit more...
![]()
Loox as if NBC has given "Life" the green weenie. While not the worst show out there, it simply had too few viewers,
simple as that.
Another victem of last years writers strike - it got moved around too much and had too long of a hiatus to pick up viewers.
![]()
I may have been one of the few that actually liked Kings, but it looks like I will never know how it

Thanks for the link - "Kings" was expensive to make, so it needed to do well fast...
![]()
The TNT show called "Trust Me" is being canned by that cable network
right? I've never even heard of that show.
Yup - TNT spent a lot on promoting "Trust Me" and nobody watched...
![]()
Interesting article.
http://www.tv.com/story/13568.html?page=1
Thanks for the link - quite a few shows "on the bubble" right now. "Life" needs some time to grow and gain an audience.
I see a lot of potential there, but will NBC be willing to wait... "Life" should be back, but the ratings are not what they should be.
"House" is doing fairly well and "Bones", while not getting big numbers, is probably safe from the axe for another season.
![]()
Loox as if NBC has moved "Kings" to the Saturday *PM death slot, which typically is occupied by reruns or cancelled shows
that have a few unaired episodes to burn off. While this is not a cancellation, it's most likely a death sentence.
We'll be keeping an eye out for it to join the ranks in TVHell.net soon!
![]()
Caught this info on Zap2it and thought I'd check with you to see if it's true. Love your site BTW
Yes - it looks like that's the end for "Trust Me". Eric McCormack is doing a promising pilot for ABC from the "Scrubs" creators,
so that's pretty much it.
![]()

Yes, CBS is cancelling "Guiding Light" after an amazing 72 year run (including radio).

Loox as if Fox has CX "Hole In The Wall' once again. Marc Berman sez it was replaced at the last minute by reruns of "American Dad" & "King Of The Hill"
cuz it was yanked. we can count on Marc to have the straight skinny.
Not that HITW was such a bad show, but its ratings were so low its first time around that I just don't understand why Fox would bring it back. Musta been
some sorta exec suite deal not made public. But I believe we all know its ratings were even worse this time, so I'd say it's gotten the green weenie for
good now.
It's a cheap show...and Fox probably gave it another shot with hopes of it getting passable numbers.

I suppose "Last Comic Standing" has been completely pulled out of its

cable - not likely though.

Hey guys, I don't have any questions I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you both have done for all of us. I've used your site countless
times to find old shows I haven't seen in years and I check frequently to read what Ian has to say he makes some great points that I never really thought
about. You really should sell merchandise or advertising or something to get some money for all that you guys have done. Keep up the great work, tv hell
is one of my favorite websites.
Thanks Randy! I wish that I could make some money from TV Hell too :) TVHell.net gets a ton of hits now, February had 120,000 uniques alone, so hopefully
we can start getting some advertisers to cover the costs soon. Ian is a very good writer and I really wish that he could be making money from his efforts here.
Ian is the main reason that TV Hell has become what it is today and I can't thank him enough for all that he does. Hey, "Jumptheshark.com" got 5 million dollars
from TV guide...and I think that TV Hell is a much better site. You never know! Thanks for the kind words, we really try.

I guess the USA version of the British TV series "Life On Mars"
starring Jason O' Mara will not return next season on ABC will it?
And when will the new episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private
Practice" will return to ABC and of course the new crime series "Live To
Tell" 48 Hours spinoff as well?
"Life On Mars" is toast...Grey's and Private Practice are back next week (the 12th). The Fall schedule and Summer schedules aren't out yet. "48 Hours Live to Tell"
seems to be doing OK, so I'd expect it to keep going, not sure of the schedule with that yet though.

I love your website. You've done a truly wonderful job with it.
I did notice however that when the cancellation for Nip/Tuck was posted the description of the show was wrong. The two plastic surgeons are not brothers
they are best friends that went to med school together. The name of their practice in the show is McNamara/Troy (the characters last names).
With that being said, it still doesn't detract from your website. Thanks for all the work you put into the site. I wish you great success!
Thanks - Not a show that I watched....!

Along with the eighth season premiere of "Dancing With The Stars"

After tonight's season finale to "The Bachelor", will that show return in
the fall since "Dancing With The Stars" and the new crime show "Castle"
will be in their vacant spot next week?
And when "Samantha Who?" returns on March 26th that means "Ugly Betty"
will be on hiatus and maybe moving to Fridays or more less?
The Bachelor will most likely return, but possibly in a different time slot. Castle will be air Monday March 9th... No word on Ugly Betty other than it is expected
to be picked up again.
![]()
Do you have any information about any remaining unaired episodes of "Pushing Daisies"? Love your site and keep up the outstanding work.
Thanks for the kind words! ABC is contractually obligated to air the 3 remaining episodes, and my best guess is that they will air after "sweeps" is over
and most likely at a down time, like a holiday weekend evening. They have to air by summer is what I have been told, so no later than the end of June, unless
they choose to buy out of the contract somehow...which isn't likely.

I’ve been trying to find the name of a really, truly awful, short lived TV show from about 1987 or 1988. It was about a man who had a house that could…get
this…..talk! And everything in the house could talk or interact in some way. It would have been on either CBS or NBC as those were the only channels we
got. My husband remembers also it being very short lived and remembers it being really awful. It might have lasted two or three episodes. I think the man
in the show was a scientist of some kind. If you could give us the name of this show or any more details about it, that would be great.
The only thing that I can think of like that is "Pee-Wee's Playhouse", a kids show, but it lasted for more than a season. Anyone else know?

Since "Momma's Boys" is already off the air after this week's season
finale episode, will the show return with new set of women, and the
three new bachelors with their mothers?
Nothing definate yet, but I'm thinking that this show will not return. Ratings weren't great and it was panned by just about everyone that matters...

Hi Rich: There was a series that ran for a short time, I think in the 90's. A catholic priest who had lots of doubts with his faith. A nun on his staff
wanted to be ordained but couldn't. They covered lots of touchy issues, well written. Most episodes ended with him sitting in a small bay-window space in
his apartment on a kneeling prayer bench listening to jazz. Once it was a great jazz song about "not time to commit suicide yet."
I'd love to know the name of the series and cast, and maybe even find that song. I do appreciate your extensive knowledge and response.
From Ian: This one wasn't all that hard to find, I think the show Michael's
looking for is Father Dowling Mysteries which aired on NBC for its
first season in 1987 and then aired two more season on ABC.

I guees the CBS drama "Swingtown" will not be re-newed for a second

When you listed the TV show "Hunter," you described it as a show from the mid 90s. Actually, if you are referring to the
police show starring Fred Dryer, it debuted in the Fall of 1983. And what do you mean "Futurama" never took off? It lasted
a few seasons, at least!
I'll update the "Hunter" listing. "Futurama" while on Fox never had good ratings and certainly never came close to
"The Simpsons". Fox believed in the show and tried it on several different nights, but ultimately it never got ratings. The
re-runs on Cartoon Network have done very well and the DVD sales have been good too, which is why the show was sort-of brought back,
this time as a direct to DVD show, and split up for Cartoon Network. The original run on Fox though... Not so good.

"Life On Mars" should be returning to ABC tv in a couple of weeks on its
new night and what happened to the voiceover saying "When The Bachelor

Maybe they found that the old style V.O. guy promoting The Bachelor wasn't effective, or turning a specific demographic off from the show that they are looking to

There was a show that came on right after Seventh Heaven that was by the same producer but it was about some firefighters
or rescuers. It was really short lived but there was an episode about a newly married couple that had been in an accident
and the groom dies. There was a song about "if you would be my valentine" that played while the grooms mother and friends
watched him die in the car. I am trying to find that song and have been for forever. Any ideas???
The show probably was "Rescue 77" back around 1999, but I don't know the specific song - Anyone know?
Well call it a TvHell staff combined effort since I had forgotten the name of Rescue 77 but the song is "Valentine" by Nils Lofgren.

9th with new cast members along with host Tom Bergurreon, will a new

and if Jay Leno's show is moving to Prime Time from late night, who's

Conan is moving up to Leno's old timeslot and Jimmy Fallan is taking Conan's old slot. I'm not completely sure about "Dancing
With The Stars", but nothing is saying that Samantha Harris is out.
![]()
I thought Boston Legal was doing well.. and then suddenly canceled.. What happened?
The ratings have been slipping a bit and more importantly, the cost of the show was very high. Shatner, Spader, John Larroquette and Candice Bergen
alone command big salaries... David E Kelley basically just ended the show on his own terms rather than wait for the axe most likely at the end of the season.
![]()
This isn't a cancellation notice, but a warning: NBC is premiering a stupid new reality/dating show called "Momma's Boys", Dec. 16th. Its theme is single
adult males seeking gitlfriends with their mothers' help! I know NBC is having an abysmal season, but this is a new low for them, airing a show in a
stupid genre that has all-but-died from TV! I predict it'll quickly tank, & be cancelled, the sooner the better. It's the kinda show that makes me glad I have 115 channels, these PCs, & videogame
consoles!
Well, "reality" shows are cheap and they are hoping to save money. Expect NBC to shy away from scripted costly shows for a while - and they just signed Jay Leno
for a nightly 10PM show which again should be a money saver. It's a pretty big gamble...

Fox has cancelled its Saturday night comedy sketch MADtv after fourteen years. The show will continue to run through May 2009 to air the eps already in

The MRC Company, to whom the CW has sold its Sunday-evening prog rights, has cancelled "Valentine" & "Easy Money", its two

The CW itself is not long for this world if they don't start attracting viewers. A down-turn in the economy means that
advertisers will become more frugal and not spend money on a network with only a small niche viewership...

According to "The Futon Critic", loox as if Fox is shelving "Hole In The Wall", a game show in which
contestants have to maneuver themselves through holes of various shapes & sizes in a wall, kinda like "human Tetris". Its
ratings stank! Its last ep finished behind the CW's "Smallville" in the ratings for the key 18-49 demo. It's gonna be
replaced with reruns of "Kitchen Nightmares" for now.
Any time a show is put on hiatus & is replaced with a rerun, it bodes ill for that show's feature. But Fox xtill has 16
unaired eps in the can, & could bring it back if another of their shows thanx.

Loox as if Sci-Fi has cancelled "Stargate Atlantis", but the 2nd half of this season will be aried as planned, beginning in
January2009, through its hundredth episode. Also, there are plans to make a 2-hour SA movie, & if it's successful, more
could follow.
Thanks! It was announced on August 20th that it will indeed stop after 100 episodes, giving it enough shows to do syndication
and another DVD, where sci-fi shows make a lot of money.

Things have been slow lately; the ole axe hasn't been swung a lot lately. But it appears "Passions"
is done. The soap's execs couldn't find another outlet to air their show, so when DirecTV aired the finale, that was all,
folx! It's history.
Thanks! TV Hell will get busy in September / October for sure...!

Apparently, HBO has cancelled "Tell me You Love Me", as its writer, Cynthia Mort, apparently developed some sorta 'writer's
block' for the show & couldn't decide which way to go with the story. However, I doubt if too many people will give a hoot
that it's gone.
Thanks! HBO hasn't been getting very lucky with it's own shows lately...

I suppose that the ABC TV summer series "Dance Machine" which is seen every Friday nite is already
cancelled right? and "Dirty Sexy Money" is returning next season - good and so will "Ugly Betty" and "The Bachelor"
(Who's the new bachelor boy?) and on that new "Bachelor" show will a new host replace Chris Harrison?
"Dance Machine" had a 5 episode order and so far ABC hasn't ordered any more, but also hasn't said "no" to bringing it back as a mid-season replacement.
It's a "we'll see" thing right now. The new "Bachelor" still hasn't been picked, but Jason Mesnick from Seattle is said to
be on the short list. No change in the host.

Here are some shows that some of the minor nets or single large stations canned, shows that often didn't make the
mainstream TRV news:
2 Dudes Catering (Food)
Dance Machine (ABC, after 3 eps) (Yes, I know ABC is more than a mininet, but I didn't see this canx reported here,
so.....)
Thanks! I got a few of them but not all. This is a big help!

The FX netlet has cancelled "Nip/Tuck", but don't start crying yet, fans. There are still 27 eps to go; it'll begin airing
again in January, & will run into 2010. 19 of those 27 eps have yet to be made, and all the current cast & crew plan to
stick around till all eps are in the can.
Thanks! I'll add it to the list when the crew is toast - They could still change their mind...

You forgot "Clone High" and "The Oblongs". SO underrated!
Thanks!

Mary: I hope you can help. I am trying to identify a TV show that I only saw a few time between 1994-1998. A female lead
20 something was planning to get married, and by chance met a guy that she fell for. She was pretty, short dark hair. He
was living in a loft or something with a freight elevator that opened in his living room. He was tall, dark-haired, great
looking.
Her family didn't know about him. He had a brother or friend that she met, maybe even a sister. He had to work, she was
from a more privileged background.
It came on before Once and Again opened -- and I thought it had a similar title. I have searched through your lists and
everything related I can find. You are right -- finding the right title is tough. Help!!!!
It was a show called "Ned and Stacey" it starred Debra Messing and Thomas Haden Church. According to imdb it aired from
1995 - 1997. But that is the exact show the person needed help finding.
The only reason I even remember it was cause of the freight elevator.
Oh yeah! Thanks!

I remember tuning to "Thunder Alley" expecting a show about auto racing or racers. Instead, it was a dull, unfunny
"family" comedy show about a retired driver(Asner) getting back close to his daughter & grandchildren. I was disappointed,
& so were a lotta others, enuff of us that the show was cancelled after 2 seasons. (Shoulda been gone before that long!)
And it was on ABC.
Thanks!

Hey Rich,
Thanks! I started the "TV Hell" list with the 1998 season - for no real
reason other than it had to start somewhere and that was the year that this site was posted. Try posting in the "Forum" and
hopefully someone will know. Thanks so much for the kind words and any input is always greatly appreciated!

Just heard that Dirt will not be coming back for season 3. Info is in the link below.
Thanks! Courteney Cox and other big names still couldn't get viewers to F/X.

I believe "TV Series Finale" is a pretty reliable source, & they seemta beliefe WF is finished after
tonight:
"TV Series Finale" is a very good site and I know that we share a lot of readers. I also agree that it will be very hard
to bring a show back from TV Hell these days, but there is always some chance... It seems more likely that a show would be picked
up on another network than brought back on the original network. "Scrubs" is a good example.

I just saw a promo for ABC Family's "Wildfire's" series finale.
It's scheduled to return in the Fall according to ABC Family - but they area bit sketchy on their up to date news. I'll keep checking
on it - Thanks!

I understand CBS took quite a hit by bringing "Jericho" back, and it's very unlikely that any net will now bring back any
show it cancelled due to low ratings. Now, while five million is no small number, & 5 million letters would fill a
fair-size storage space, it's a miniscule percentage of available US TV viewers, not nearly enough to keep the sponsors
happy who are paying big bux to a major net to run their ads. It's common sense to realize that if a show has low
viewership, cancelling & then reviving it is NOT gonna increase its viewership above what it was before it was
cancelled!
A like example is "American Gladiators". The old AG had a unique flavor that the new version just doesn't have, and TV
Land had grown tired of the original show. Anyone who has ESPN Classic can see reruns of the old AG every day, and I've
watched both the old & the new for comparison. The new version will be on Page 3 any day now, as its viewership is
minimal. I wouldn't expect to see this show ever made again.
Just some thoughts. You are quite right to say that when a show is cancelled due to being ratings-challenged, we might
as well consider it toast, & if we wanna see it again, look for it in syndication on a "minor" channel, or on DVD.
Fellerzz, you're doing a great job here! You have many more readers than you think; mosta them don't send you Emails,
etc. I just wanted you to know your work is APPRECIATED, & to encourage you to keep it up!
It seems that the few shows that were brought back due to viewer response have ended up failing anyway. "Family Guy" was
brought back and became successful thanks to high DVD sales and solid ratings with it's re-runs on Cartoon Network. That's a
big rarity though. Thanks for the kind words about TV Hell! TV Hell is currently in it's 10th year now and is growing a little
every year. Not bad for a site that I originally did just to learn html! Maybe someday we can get some advertisers and I can retire from my day job...! Thanks to you for contributing in
the Mailbag and giving me a 'heads up' with shows that get the axe - I appreciate it very much.

I see a couple of shows on your web site that I watch regularly have been canceled!!!! Where can I
Email to stop the execution?
There isn't a lot that you can do, but once in a blue moon enough outcry will bring a show back. Your best bet would be to write the network
(Emails don't seem to mean as much for some reason) and do a search for a fan group - there might be a grass roots level thing starting up that you could be a part of to try and
bring a show back. Chances are extremely slim that anything will work though...
